Lucy Letby ‘looks happy’ in cushy cell with en-suite, TV and 24-hour protection

Twisted baby-killer Lucy Letby is being treated to a cushy cell with its own en-suite.

The murderous former nurse will even get 24-hour protection in her new digs, which come with a desk, phone and telly. The 33-year-old is being held at Bronzefield Prison but her status there is understood to be causing issues among its other inmates.

According to The Sun, she was recently moved from tough Low Newton jail in County Durham to HMP Bronzefield, which is run by Sodexo in Ashford, Surrey. She does not have a prison job and has also dyed her hair.

A source told the outlet: “Letby seems to be as happy as Larry. She is in a nice cell and on her own. The facilities at Bronzefield are much nicer than most jails because it’s privately run.

“She is with prisoners who have earned more rights to watch TV, spend their cash and have visits. It is a disgrace and it’s no wonder she’s been looking so happy.”

The source added that her fame appeared to causing her to be treated with the “kid gloves”. This all comes despite Letby serving a whole life term for the brutal murder of seven babies while she worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016. She had been working as a neonatal nurse at the time and as well as the babies she claimed the lives of, also attempted to kill six others.

A Bronzefield spokesman told the outlet that it “can’t” comment on specific cases relating to an inmate. The news comes following the formal opening of a public enquiry into Letby by a judge.

The hearings are not due to begin until next autumn but will look at how she was able to murder the seven babies, as well as how the NHS handled the case.
